Seby Lubwama Ntege
Meet Seby Lubwama Ntege a young musician and dancer from Busoga, East Uganda.
This is what Seby has to say:
I got my musical inspiration from my grandparents and later my mum, who is still a singer up to now. My grandparents could hardly stay in the house when there was music playing in the neighbourhood! Ugandan traditional music still plays a very significant role in community celebrations, like weddings, national days, funerals, etc.
My performing art dates far back to my early school days where I liked so much druming and being a lead vocal more than anything.
I later on joined the famous Nile Beat Artists in which I have served as a key member performing dances from all ethnic regions of the country and even across borders to other countries.
The instruments I play most include: thumb-piano, tube-fiddle, panpipes, xylophones, drums and many others."
Seby currently lives in London and while in the UK he has been part of high profile performances like leading the 21 key xylophone group in March 2007 which performed before her Majesty the Queen at the Westminster Abbey. He recently was on a national tour in a dance theatre production called Motherland by Sampad Arts in Birmingham where he played music along Indian music composer and director Praveen D Rao and self accomplished musician Dan Wilkins who play the Kora among other instruments.

On stage at the Edinburgh Festival, 2001
