These flutes look and sound beautiful, but they are made from reed, so they are not indestructible! The sound is produced by blowing across a notch in the end: a note of warning because at first, it can be a challenge to get any sound out of them!

Our endere are made by Albert Ssempeke, one of the last remaining royal flute players in Buganda.

Lyres from Buganda are unique for their buzzing tone produced when strings graze against a lizard skin covering the body. The instrument is usually accompanied by two fiddles, and was a popular instrument at weddings and in the king's court.

Even though good instruments are still being built by craftsmen, there are few lyre players today, notably Albert Ssempeke. Ssempeke personally chooses and improves our lyres.

The eight-stringed enaanga is a beautiful instrument with a gentle buzzing tone, produced when strings graze against lizard-skin.

Recently, craftsmen have started building enaanga harps again, guided by Albert Ssempeke, and encouraged by your orders!

Endingidi has one string, a short bow, and only five notes. Yet the music played is complex, fun and absorbing!

Our endingidi are the best available in Kampala, and are made especially by Albert Ssempeke's family.
